As we all know, gas prices have sky rocketed in our country. None of us are particularly happy about this when it comes to driving our vehicles in our day to day lives. On top of that it effects our truck drivers who are responsible for getting our deliverables to where they need to be on time. Truckers truly keep the wheels of society turning and it just makes it more difficult for them & the companies they work for to do their jobs. You may be thinking well how does that affect me? Well the impact of the inflation of gas prices makes what you pay, the consumer substantially higher. This is just the latest speed bump, the average semi truck has an 150 gallon tank on both sides.. That is upwards to 400 dollars to fill up right now with the price of diesel fuel. Crazy right?!
So why does diesel fuel cost more than regular gas? One reason is that it has a higher federal tax than regular gas at 24.4 cents per gallon, compared to the 18 cents for basic fuel. With that being said changes need to be made. Here at DriverSource we have such a high appreciation for our drivers. The prices of gas especially diesel is obviously out of our control, but we are going to do everything in our power to make it a little easier on the truck drivers of the world considering they are such a substantial factor in keeping our economy going.
